The Feast of St Nicholas

Nicholas was born in the third century in what is now southern Turkey. Orphaned at a young age, he was a devout Christian who followed God’s word and gave away his inherited wealth to help the needy. He eventually became a Bishop of Myra during a time when Roman persecution of Christians was ruthless. He spent time in prison for his beliefs and there are lots of legends about his good works.

He died on December 6th (now his feast day) in 343AD and its something that a man who lived so long ago, is still venerated and remembered now. Please visit The St Nicholas Centre for loads more information about Nicholas, his life and work.
