Where wolf? There wolf!
Faoladh, the werewolves of Ireland. Different from the European werewolf, this creature was a shapeshifter, a guardian and protector of children, wounded men and lost persons. Legend has it they were recruited by Kings in times of war.

ReplyDeleteI'd not heard of this variation of the werewolf until I saw it on Twitter. And yes, the artwork is pretty special.

ReplyDeleteI hadn't either. I think the traditional werewolf tale we are accustomed to is based on Christian interpretation which makes the creature out to be evil. Personally, I like the Irish legend more.
